The St Helena Association has officially pulled back the curtain on an ambitious initiative designed to bridge the thousands of miles between “Saint” communities. In a display of solidarity, the charity has announced a simultaneous series of fundraising walks and has asked supporters to save the date for 19th April 2026.
The planned UK start-line is at Coate Water Country Park in Swindon, where many Saints from St Helena now reside. The event will take place around the same time as walks starting at the Kingshurst in St Helena, with further events planned for Ascension Island and the Falkland Islands.
While the organisation is still in the process of finalising details and routes, the announcement serves to help participants prepare for the upcoming community challenge. These walks are more than just physical exercise; they serve as a cornerstone of the association’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Island’s population and raising critical awareness for mental health on St Helena.
The initiative recognises that the act of walking is a vital tool for mental wellbeing, offering a natural way to reduce stress and foster the kind of meaningful human connections that are vital for a healthy mind.
By coordinating these events across four distinct locations, the organisers hope to prove that geographical distance is no barrier to the shared values.
The success of the event on the ground will be driven by a team of dedicated local organisers and leaders.
Organisers are currently arranging routes that will allow participants of all abilities to come together for this significant cause.
The St Helena Association aims to gather not only those living within the mentioned locations but also the wider “Saints” diaspora settled across the globe.
The message is clear: regardless of where a person is located, they are invited to be part of this movement of “One Mind, One Heart, Saints Together.”
Full details, including confirmed times and registration information, are expected in the coming weeks. For now, the Association is encouraging supporters to watch their official channels closely and begin preparing to walk for the mental health of the entire community.
