It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Vernon George Quickfall, who passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, on July 27 th 1955, Vernon would have celebrated his 70th birthday this year.
Vernon was a beloved husband, dad, and grandad.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lorna, his son Robert and his wife, and one grandson and a granddaughter. He will be deeply missed by his many family members and friends in South Africa and on St Helena.
A familiar face to many, Vernon was known for his kind and gentle nature. He served as the head warden at his church, where the older ladies especially cherished his thoughtfulness, as he would always help them to their seats and cars.
Vernon made a significant contribution to the St Helena community during his time as CEO of St Helena Media Services from February 2003 to July 2007.
He was also a popular barman at the Standard Bar on St Helena. He was also a presenter at Radio St Helena for a short period.
Even after leaving the St Helena, Vernon remained a keen listener and supporter of Saint FM, frequently emailing the Saturday morning show hosted by Michail Harris and Tony Brookes to send greetings to his family and friends on St Helena. The family takes comfort in knowing that Vernon is now in a better place. May he rest in peace.
